ESPN’s FPI Predicts Virginia Tech Will Need to Moonlight as Food Delivery Drivers to Win Another Game -

Virginia Tech fans tuned in hoping for a late-season miracle. Instead, they got their third straight loss, courtesy of Old Dominion’s marching band-turned-Wildcats-on-steroids act. Now ESPN’s FPI—sporting more algorithms than a NASA launch—has pored over the Hokies’ remaining 2025 schedule and delivered its verdict: play time’s over. According to the all-knowing predictive model, Tech’s best chance at victory involves inventing time travel, staging a zombie apocalypse to distract opponents, or maybe just bribing the referees with extra credit in their stat classes. Their upcoming foes range from “slightly scary” to “apocalypse now,” and FPI has Tech pegged as underdogs in nearly every contest. At this point, betting on next season’s recruiting class or flipping a coin might feel more scientific. Better luck in 2026, kiddos.
