It’s been so long—think MySpace-era long—since the GameDay caravan rolled through that local historians are considering a special exhibit on the ancient event. Fans, armed with foam fingers and an unquenchable thirst for televised trophy hunts, have grown accustomed to wake-up calls from coach expectations, not Lee Corso’s famous headgear theatrics.
Despite fielding a team that can hurl a pigskin with Olympic precision, FSU somehow redlined their bid. Rumor has it the administration misinterpreted “host” as “ghost,” resulting in an eerily empty campus. Meanwhile, Miami Hurricanes fans—masterful at fan choreography—have reportedly been spotted practicing ESPN sign drills while sipping cafecito in anticipation of GameDay’s big Miami debut.
Campus tour guides now offer a special “Where GameDay Never Shows Up” walking tour, complete with interactive displays of dusty goalposts and mannequins wearing unsold Seminoles jerseys. Local baristas are also cashing in, promoting a latte called “The GameDay Ghost,” guaranteed to leave you craving something you’ll never actually get.
