Basketball Phenom Hijacks Football Tunnel
USC has tapped star guard JuJu Watkins to serve as the tunnel captain for the Trojans’ upcoming football showdown with No. 15 Michigan. Watkins, fresh off an award-laden season that ended prematurely with a torn ACL, will rally the football squad through the L.A. Memorial Coliseum tunnel on Oct. 11. The move comes as USC seeks to bolster morale and sell out the Coliseum, leveraging Watkins’ cross-sport star power despite her sidelined status for the upcoming basketball campaign.
Forget Noah’s Ark—USC just found its ultimate safety in JuJu Watkins. With the football team teetering at 4-1 and in desperate need of a pep talk, the Trojans have ingeniously drafted their women’s basketball MVP to lead 300-pound linemen through the tunnel. If high-flying layups and defensive steals can’t ignite a football crowd, surely a basketball court celebrity will do the trick. One can only imagine the Huskies pondering, “Is that a guard with a basketball or just our worst halftime show?”
