Four Irish Heroes Sweep Weekly Awards After Trojan Takedown

Notre Dame stunned No. 20 USC 34-24 to extend its win streak to five and climb to No. 12 in the AP Top 25. Running back Jeremiyah Love exploded for 228 rushing yards on 24 carries and five catches, earning both the AP National Player of the Week and Doak Walker honors after a 63-yard opener and eight rushes of 10-plus yards. Fellow back Jadarian Price chipped in with 87 yards on 13 carries and a 100-yard kickoff return, securing the Paul Hornung Award for versatility. Guard Billy Schrauth anchored an offensive line that gouged USC for 306 rushing yards, winning the Outland Trophy weekly nod despite suffering a knee injury. Punter James Rendell pinned three of four kicks inside the 20 and averaged 49 yards per punt, grabbing the Ray Guy Award as special teams boss.

In true Fighting Irish fashion, Notre Dame turned a Saturday evening into a full-fledged award factory—because nothing says “we’re serious about football” like four separate plaques in one night. Jeremiyah Love apparently treats defenses like piñatas, while Jadarian Price reminds us he’s the Swiss Army knife of special teams, capable of ripping off long runs, catches and returns before your popcorn’s even popped. Meanwhile, Billy Schrauth’s linemates probably needed a GPS just to find USC defenders left in the dust—and now he’s out for weeks with a “mysterious” knee hiccup (did someone spike the Gatorade?). And let’s not forget James Rendell, whose punts are so accurate they might as well be guided missiles. If the Irish keep this up, their trophy case will need its own suite at Notre Dame Stadium.
