Nick Dorn’s Comeback May Ignite Hoosier Hoops
Nick Dorn, a 6-foot-7 transfer from Elon, has been sidelined by a fractured foot that ended his sophomore season and delayed his arrival at Indiana. Reports indicate he’s nearing full clearance for basketball activities ahead of Indiana’s November 5 opener against Alabama A&M. Dorn averaged 15.2 points and 3.8 rebounds with a 37.4% field goal rate and 35.1% three-point mark last season and has recovered sufficiently to rejoin workouts. Though he’s questionable for the opener, his return could bolster the Hoosiers’ backcourt and provide much-needed floor spacing as Coach Darian DeVries sets a three-guard rotation in his debut campaign.
Good news, Indiana fans: the Hoosiers might actually score more than 50 points this season! It turns out all they needed was Nick Dorn’s foot not in a cast. Who knew? Between pushing pans at the pizza joint and shooting wild heaves from half-court, Dorn’s foot finally healed just in time for DeVries to test out his 10-man rotating voyagers. Expect more three-pointers than a pirate convention, and maybe—just maybe—a win you can actually celebrate without crying into your nachos. Coast is clear for some real Hoosier highlights, or at least a few less embarrassing losses.
Roman Hemby Poised to Spoil Maryland Reunion
Former Maryland star running back Roman Hemby returns to College Park as Indiana’s every-down back, leading a potent rushing attack for the No. 2 Hoosiers. Hemby ranks top five in Maryland’s program history in scrimmage yards and touchdowns. After a two-touchdown outing against UCLA, he brings 107 carries for 513 yards and four touchdowns, plus 131 yards receiving, into a highly anticipated Homecoming showdown. Maryland’s defense, including freshman Sidney Stewart and coach Mike Locksley who recruited Hemby, remains undaunted as they prepare to face their old teammate leading the Hoosiers (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) against Maryland (4-3, 1-3) at SECU Stadium.
Ah, Homecoming—the one weekend when college kids pretend they actually learned something and alumni desperate for nostalgia flock back. Enter Roman Hemby: the prodigal villain ready to trample hearts and hog wild hopes. Maryland thought they recruited him, but whoops, he graduated and defected to Indiana for the ultimate plot twist. Now he’s a one-man wrecking crew, and the Terrapins get front-row seats at his triumphant betrayal tour. Nothing says “Welcome back!” like watching your ex-star back casually embarrass you in front of your mom and the dedication plaque you forgot to read. Cheers to mid-October drama on the gridiron!
