Backcourt Bonanza: Tide Guards Dominate SEC Hype

SEC coaches unveiled their preseason all-SEC teams with Alabama’s Labaron Philon named to the First Team and Aden Holloway landing on the Third Team. Philon, fresh off three SEC Freshman of the Week honors, averaged 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and a team-best 1.3 steals per game last season, briefly flirted with the NBA before returning to Tuscaloosa. Holloway, a sophomore transfer from Auburn, emerged as the Crimson Tide’s sixth man, posting 11.4 points per game on 41.2 percent three-point shooting. As Alabama reloads after an Elite Eight finish—retaining only one starter, navigating four transfers out and five incoming transfers—the duo is expected to anchor the new-look roster in the 2025–26 campaign.

In an outrageous twist of fate, the SEC couldn’t resist showering Alabama’s backcourt with more accolades than a Hollywood awards show. Move over, film stars—these guards are here to steal every red carpet and three-piece suite in sight. Next up: will they hand out MVP trophies at Thanksgiving dinner just for showing up?

Rival Rendezvous: Crimson Recruit Flirts with Auburn

Four-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson, a 2026 commit to Alabama, is set to visit Auburn on November 1 for the Tigers’ home game against Kentucky. At 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Wilson transitioned from soccer and basketball to football in 10th grade and boasts 42 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 5 sacks through eight games, leading his Mississippi high school to a 7-1 record. Despite two official visits to Alabama this fall and no indication of wavering commitment, this late-cycle trip to an SEC rival has Crimson Tide coaches on edge about a possible flip, though Alabama’s depth in the front seven might absorb the shock.

Nothing screams “confidence” like a recruit evading the elephant stampede to window-shop in Tiger country. One can only imagine Alabama’s coaching staff scratching their heads while frantically searching Google for “how to reclaim wayward prospects.” Stay tuned for the next installment of SEC melodrama: Cleats, Commitment Phases and Curbside Tailgates.
