Spartans Court the Class of 2026’s Top Trio
Michigan State men’s basketball enters the 2025–26 season with the 22nd-ranked recruiting class, yet remains aggressive in chasing uncommitted 2026 prospects. Point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. and power forward Julius Avent anchor current commitments, while MSU eyes shooting guard Jasiah Jervis, 7-foot center Ethan Taylor, and wing Maximo Adams. Jervis (6’4″ from Archbishop Stepinac, NY) averages 16.2 PPG and is down to visits at MSU, NC State, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee. Taylor (7’0″ from Link Academy) has taken official visits to Oregon, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, and MSU, with Spartans and Jayhawks neck-and-neck. Adams (21 PPG on the EYBL circuit) canceled a Duke visit and has toured USC, Kentucky, MSU, Kansas, UNC, and Texas. Texas and North Carolina currently lead his recruitment. Landing even one of these high-caliber talents could propel MSU back into title contention.
In typical Tom Izzo fashion, basketball’s greatest detangler of shoelaces is reportedly circling prospects like a raccoon on Red Bull. Rumor has it Spartans staff now carries 3×5 cards with birthdates, favorite pizza toppings, and periodic table knowledge just in case. Jasiah Jervis might mistake campus spotlights for paparazzi, Ethan Taylor could ask for a trampoline as part of his scholarship, and Maximo Adams is allegedly eyeing MSU’s mascot for a late-night dunk contest. Somewhere in East Lansing, a recruiter is feverishly checking flight schedules, convinced that official visits actually mean “90 minutes of guided campus suspense.” If MSU misses on these guys, expect Izzo to console himself by recruiting the entire cast of a local high school production of “Space Jam.”
