Texas A&M Snags 2027’s Top Safety
Coach Mike Elko’s recruiting magic strikes again as Kamarui Dorsey, the Rivals300’s No. 1 safety in the class of 2027, pledges to wear Maroon and White. The 6’3” defensive back from Hampton, Georgia, spurned hometown Bulldogs and LSU to join Texas A&M’s escalating haul, giving Elko his fifth class member. Dorsey, known for 49 tackles and one interception in 2023, boosted his stats to 58 tackles, four tackles-for-loss and three picks in 2024. A&M’s sudden dominance—capping a 31-9 drubbing of Mississippi State and a humiliating slap at LSU in Baton Rouge—made College Station a no-brainer. With a current top-three class ranking bolstered by QB Jayce Johnson, DL Elijah Patmon, OT DeMarrion Johnson, and WR Hakim Frampton, plus a 2026 haul featuring Brandon Arrington, Bryce Perry-Wright and Victor Singleton, the defense’s future looks “Wrecking Crew”-worthy. The Aggies now enjoy a bye before facing Missouri, South Carolina, Samford and Big 12 rival Texas to prove if this season truly matches the hype.
If recruiting were Tinder, Mike Elko just swiped right on the prettiest profile in the room. Forget LSU’s glossy stadium lights or Georgia’s legendary deep-fried tailgating buffet—Dorsey saw the Aggie defense and said, “Where do I sign?” It’s less a commitment than a hostage situation: once you spend five minutes watching A&M’s secondary, you’re psychologically bound. Next up: convincing Uncle Sam to pony up scholarships like confetti. And while the fans crack open celebratory Dr Pepper floats, we’re left wondering if this recruiting class will end up more Cinderella story or pumpkin patch. Either way, the Aggies’ secret sauce remains the same: coach Elko’s magic and the promise of ruining someone else’s season. Now that’s a recruiting pitch you can’t scroll past.
