Rebels Rocket to AP’s Elite, Sooners Coasting Along
The Ole Miss Rebels climbed to No. 5 in the latest AP Top-25 Poll after a 34-24 win over Florida, with Lane Kiffin declaring this moment “the good ol’ days.” The 10-1 Rebels now eye a season finale against Mississippi State, while the Oklahoma Sooners maintain a comfortable ranking at No. 8. The updated Week 13 poll finds Ohio State atop the board, followed by undefeated Indiana, Texas A&M, and Georgia.
In an era when polling nerds clutch their clipboards like game-show contestants fighting for the million-dollar question, Kiffin’s Rebels have ripped off wins like hotcakes at a tailgate brunch. Meanwhile, the Sooners nod along, sipping Gatorade and polishing their helmets, fully aware that being ranked eighth still beats being outside the top 25—and that’s plenty good for a midweek brag. The AP voters probably needed something to argue about, and now they can squabble over whether Ole Miss or Georgia is the true harbinger of college-football nirvana. Either way, it’s great theater, and as Kiffin reminded everybody, “enjoy it”—because nothing lasts forever, except for polls, PowerPoints, and the SEC’s reputation for high-stakes soap operas.
