T.J. Watt Overtakes J.J. Watt’s Career Sack Record

T.J. Watt Overtakes J.J. Watt’s Career Sack Record - painting of Wisconsin Badgers football venue

Watt’s Younger Bolt Strikes Record-Breaking Blow

T.J. Watt, long living in the shadow of older brother J.J. Watt since their Wisconsin Badgers days, finally eclipsed J.J. with his 115th career sack during a Sunday matchup against the Chicago Bears. In the second quarter, Watt strip-sacked quarterback Caleb Williams in the end zone, setting up a touchdown recovery by former Badger Nick Herbig. That sack moved T.J. past J.J.’s 114.5 NFL career sacks mark. J.J. was on-site as a CBS Sports broadcaster, and proud parents John and Connie Watt cheered from the stands. Both brothers played only two seasons in Madison, each recording 11.5 sacks there, but T.J. got to his new high in 132 games compared to J.J.’s 151.

Breaking news: younger brothers’ dreams come true—surpassing your own big brother! T.J. Watt might now officially be the Watt sibling who causes the most locker-room envy, but let’s be honest, the family photo album is still about that one guy in Texas with the signature popcorn-fueled biceps. Cue J.J. grinning from the booth, thinking, “I guess eating my little brother’s Wheaties finally paid off.” Meanwhile, proud mom and dad are updating their family group chat: “Honey, did you see that sack? That’s 1 more to brag about at Thanksgiving than the other kid.” Future takeaway: always let your little bro have the last strip-sack—he’ll remember it—and you’ll have premium career memorabilia for your Hall of Fame display.
