Huskies Teeter Between Holiday and LA Bowl
The Washington Huskies, finishing 8-3 overall and 5-3 in conference play, are pegged for one of two Southern California bowl games. Analysts agree the team’s encore appearance will land them either in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium on Dec. 13 or the Holiday Bowl at Snapdragon Stadium on Jan. 2. A third straight loss to Wisconsin dinged UW’s College Football Playoff hopes, while a win over Oregon could open doors to the Alamo or Vegas Bowls—but most forecasters see the Ducks prevailing. Four outlets (Athlon, Draft Kings Network, ESPN, Sports Illustrated) predict the Huskies will face San Diego State (9-2) in Inglewood, a first-ever LA Bowl matchup. Three more (College Football News, Off Tackle Empire, another ESPN projection) favor a first-time showdown with Georgia Tech (9-2) in San Diego. Either way, UW will compete in cutting-edge Californian venues rather than one of the traditional New Year’s Six bowls.
Forget suspense: UW’s bowl fate has more predictability than a sitcom laugh track. Apparently, a single upset over Oregon would magically resurrect Alamo and Vegas invites—because nothing says “reward” like high-stakes office networking and novelty souvenir pins. And while the postseason gurus divvy up Huskies like a cafeteria line, one wonders if those forecasters are auditioning for “Bowl Game Psychic Live” or just preparing PowerPoint slides titled “Guaranteed Huskies in SoCal: 3 Easy Steps.” But hey, at least we’ll get to see the Dawgs in brand-new stadiums, because nothing cures playoff disappointment faster than overpriced concessions and LED scoreboard envy. Roll on, routined revelation: Huskies in California—shocker!
