Clemson’s Coach on the Move, Star Lineman Declares Draft

Clemson’s Coach on the Move, Star Lineman Declares Draft - painting of Clemson Tigers football venue

Offensive Coordinator Courts Chanticleer Crown

Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley is being tapped as the No. 1 target for Coastal Carolina’s head coaching vacancy, according to FootballScoop. Riley wrapped up his third season calling plays for the Tigers, seeing his offense drop from 34.7 points per game (18th nationally) in 2024 to 28.7 this season, landing 10th in the ACC. Texas-born Riley has overseen Cade Klubnik’s development and been a Broyles Award winner. Though interviews are underway, no hire is official.

Hold onto your whistles, folks—Clemson’s offensive brain is flirting with the little brother league down in Conway. Garrett Riley, master of the air raid, might swap paw prints for chanticleer feathers, proving once again that coordinators are the hot potatoes of the coaching carousel. After eking out a mid-pack scoring dip, the Tigers still haven’t figured out if they’re breeding head coaches or just recycling playbooks. Riley’s resume is gleaming—just don’t ask him to stick around long enough to finish what he started.

Peter Woods Trades Paw Prints for Draft Dreams

A few weeks before Clemson faces Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl, star defensive lineman Peter Woods announced via X that he will enter the 2026 NFL Draft. Woods, a three-year starter with 84 tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss, has yet to confirm if he’ll suit up against the Nittany Lions. The Alabama native earned ESPN Preseason All-American honors and topped Pro Football Focus grades among Power Four interior defenders. Scouts project him as a first-round pick next April.

Breaking news: paw-shaking ceremonies are overrated when you’ve got NFL checks waiting. Peter Woods, defender extraordinaire, has decided that wearing orange and purple is cool—until you can wear NFL colors. Forget the Pinstripe Bowl; he’s busy polishing his draft stock. Dabo Swinney’s glowing praise for Woods’ new physique is adorable, but the real metamorphosis happened when Woods traded his college ID for a league-wide pro prospect. Remember him fondly—or at least until someone else sacks the QB.
