FSU Football’s Latest Moves: New Coach, NFL Signing - painting of Florida State Seminoles football venue

From Seminole to Brown: Byers’ NFL Journey Begins

Jeremiah Byers, a former Florida State offensive tackle, has been signed by the Cleveland Browns off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. The 6-4, 320-pound rookie, an undrafted free agent out of FSU, had spent the season honing his skills in Arizona’s practice facility after being cut earlier in the year. Byers started eight of nine games in 2024 for the Seminoles, adding to his impressive 52 college starts and 3,000-plus snaps. His contributions helped FSU secure the 2023 ACC Championship, and he previously logged 33 games at UTEP. The Browns will assign him jersey No. 63 as they look to bolster their offensive line depth.

In a twist that nobody saw coming—except every NFL team’s front office, apparently—Byers goes from lounging on the Cardinals’ practice squad couch to auditioning for a starting role in Cleveland. We can only imagine the locker room pep talk: “Hey guys, meet No. 63—our new secret sauce in pass protection, as long as the sauce doesn’t forget its keys on game day.” Jeremiah’s meteoric rise from undrafted rookie to Browns hopeful is the kind of real-life Cinderella story that will surely be adapted into a Broadway musical starring offensive linemen. Can’t wait for the ballad: “I Blocked a Blitzer, What Else Could Go Wrong?”

FSU Recruits Edge Mastermind Nick Williams

Florida State University has appointed Nick Williams as its new EDGE coach and pass rush specialist. Williams, a South Georgia native, brings experience from Georgia, Texas A&M, Colorado, and Syracuse clubs, where he helped produce multiple NFL draftees and top-ranked recruiting classes. At Syracuse, he boosted the Orange to a 10-3 season in 2024, toppling three ranked opponents and winning the Holiday Bowl. His track record includes grooming All-ACC performers and guiding defensive lines to national prominence in scoring and rushing defense.

Behold the Seminoles’ latest chess move in the never-ending national championship quest: hiring Nick “Sack‐Magnet” Williams. Rumor has it he recruits players with the promise of “unlimited blitz packages and free Gatorade towels.” FSU fans, dust off your Doak Campbell stickers and prepare for a blitz-centric revival—because nothing says “back to the elite” like a coach whose entire résumé screams, “We’ll sack your quarterback until he’s reconsidering life choices.” Expect defensive coordinators nationwide to lose sleep, and offensive lines to call their therapists nightly.
