Tigers Unveil Wild 2026 Non-Conference Baseball Slate

Auburn’s baseball squad, fresh off hosting a Super-Regional, has released its non-conference schedule for 2026. The season kicks off at Plainsman Park with Youngstown State from Feb. 13–15, followed by a midweek test against Cincinnati. A highlight is the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas (Feb. 20–22), featuring former NCAA Tournament squads Kansas State, Florida State, and Louisville. Returning home, the Tigers will host West Georgia, Nebraska (in a first-ever matchup), Samford, Winthrop, and Georgia Tech, interspersed with neutral-site clashes at Riverwalk Stadium vs. South Alabama. Midweeks against Jacksonville State, Alabama State, and road trips to Samford, UAB, and Jacksonville State round out the non-conference portion. Head coach Butch Thompson boasts a mix of rising sophomores like Bub Terrell, Chase Fralick, and Chris Rembert alongside fresh recruits. Last season’s Super-Regional exit at the hands of Coastal Carolina fuels Auburn’s aim to strike early before SEC play begins.

Hold onto your mitts, folks, because Auburn’s rolling out a non-conference gauntlet so brutal it makes your grandma’s fruitcake look like a gentle hug. First up: Youngstown State—because nothing says “we mean business” like hosting the Penguins on a frozen Feb ruin. Then a cozy midweek dance with Cincinnati, because apparently a little Bearcat boogie is the perfect appetizer. By week two, they’re off to Texas to face a trio of powerhouses; it’s like inviting your high school frenemies over and pretending you’re unbothered. Back home they’ll play host to West Georgia and Nebraska, debuting the Cornhuskers at Plainsman Park—talk about a cornfield reunion. And just when you think they might nap, they’ve scheduled Samford, Winthrop, UAB, and Georgia Tech in rapid succession, sprinkled with a neutral-site date in Montgomery—romantic, right? It’s as if Coach Thompson said, “Let’s book every midweek, weekend, and leftover lunch hour.” By May 12, if you still have a pulse, congratulations: you survived Auburn’s early-season mayhem. Now hurry up and get those popcorn buckets ready—this circus doesn’t do off days.
