Hurricanes Rally and Stumble in FAU Fall Frenzy
In their lone fall exhibition at Mark Light Field, Miami Baseball fell to Florida Atlantic 5–3 in nine innings but rallied in the 10th. The Hurricanes, showcasing a 25-man roster overhaul, matched FAU’s lead after a controlled 10-inning format. Freshman and upperclassmen combined for 15 hits, yet FAU plated two early runs. Junior slugger Daniel Cuvet kept Miami alive with key RBI in the first and a two-run, 356-foot homer in the fifth. Despite the loss, the home crowd glimpsed a rejuvenated squad ready for spring.
Oh, rejoice Ye Faithful of the Orange and Green! Our beloved Hurricanes, in their saintly wisdom, saw fit to swap out half the team just in time for late-fall finger-freezing. A sacrificial extra inning—because who doesn’t want to pretend October is April?—provided us with all the drama of a daytime soap: a triple-digit squad, a lumber-powered junior, and a crowd that probably wished this was football season. Truly, the only thing missing was a cameo by Shaggy delivering hot dogs from the dugout.
Hurricanes Unveil 2026 Rivalry-Rich Warpath
Head coach J.D. Arteaga released Miami’s 2026 slate, featuring three home games against Lehigh to open on Feb. 13, followed by UCF, Indiana State, Lafayette and a Feb. 27-Mar. 1 series against Florida—currently deadlocked 136-136-1. ACC play kicks off Mar. 6-8 versus Boston College, with additional home series against Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Cal. Road trips include Duke, Clemson, NC State and a May 14-16 rivalry finale at Florida State. A marquee April 17-19 trek to Stanford and non-conference tests against FAU, FIU, Creighton, Bethune-Cookman and FGCU round out the season, capped by ACC and NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals before Omaha’s College World Series.
Ah yes, the Florida swing: because nothing says “spring break” like an annual grudge match with swampy Gators followed by a pilgrimage to the greasy palms of Tallahassee. Arteaga apparently enjoys long car rides, so he’s shipped the boys from Miami to California, back to Miami, then off again for postseason mayhem. It’s basically one big baseball-themed road trip app designed to drain your gas card and test your tolerance for boiled peanuts. Here’s hoping they remember to pack sunscreen for Omaha.
