Bayou Blitz: LSU Snags Nation’s No.1 Defensive Tackle

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin wasted no time boosting his program’s defensive front, securing the nation’s top defensive tackle, Richard Anderson, in his 2026 recruiting class. Anderson, a 6-foot-4, 335-pound powerhouse from New Orleans Edna Karr, wrapped his high school career with back-to-back state championships and a 27-game win streak. Ranked No.1 at his position, he’ll enroll early and take part in Spring Camp come January. Kiffin also locked up five-star offensive prospect Lamar Brown, rounding out a stellar start to his tenure in Baton Rouge.

In a shocking display of power moves, Lane Kiffin apparently turned Baton Rouge into the recruiting equivalent of Grand Central Station—complete with oversize suitcases full of five-star prospects. Richard Anderson’s decision to head to LSU early is basically LSU sending a fruit basket to spring practice, except the basket weighs 335 pounds and tackles quarterbacks. Expect Kiffin to autograph a few more helmets with his touchdown throw before the season starts, because obviously this is how one properly kicks off a coaching career: enroll the nation’s top tackle and claim it’s “just another day in the office.”
