Wisconsin Courts the ‘French Freak’ of the O-Line

The Wisconsin Badgers have made a swift move under new offensive line coach Eric Mateos, extending an offer to 2027 five-star prospect Ismael Camara, nicknamed the “French Freak.” After hiring Mateos from Arkansas—where he transformed their front five—Wisconsin added Camara to offers already from Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Texas Tech, Tennessee and others. Ranked among the nation’s top recruits (No. 22 by Rivals, No. 26 by 247Sports), the 6-foot-6 Camara has trimmed down to a projected 315 pounds to focus on his tackle potential. His existing bond with Mateos and Wisconsin’s NFL O-line track record could tip the recruiting battle in Madison’s favor.

Move over cheeseheads, there’s a new French delicacy coming to Madison—Camembert Camara. Coach Mateos, freshly plucked from Arkansas, is already playing matchmaker, wooing the gallic giant with visions of NFL stardom and endless brats on gameday. Sure, other schools have sent their digital RSVP cards, but Mateos insists he’s got the secret sauce—or is it béchamel? The kid’s slimmed down faster than the state’s retail milk, and now dreams of pancake blocks instead of pancake breakfasts. If Camara signs, Wisconsin’s line might become so unstoppable that opposing defenses will blame their GPS for leading them to the wrong end zone. Vive la O-line!
