Arkansas Hogs: Transfer Frenzy and Defensive Showdown

Arkansas Hogs: Transfer Frenzy and Defensive Showdown - painting of Arkansas Razorbacks football, basketball venue

Ex-Hog Linebacker Roussaw Poised for New SEC Adventure

Everett Roussaw, a Memphis linebacker and former Arkansas commit, plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Jan. 2. A durable performer, Roussaw has started all 36 games of his college career, racking up 189 tackles, 16.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks, seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He began at UAB under Trent Dilfer and has faced Power 5 offenses, mastering RPOs, air raids and triple options. With coach Ryan Silverfield’s SEC connections and Arkansas’ financial promise under AD Hunter Yurachek, the Razorbacks hope to retain talent even as roster churn intensifies.

If there’s one thing college football loves more than drama, it’s a career insurance policy performed by a linebacker in the transfer portal. Roussaw’s career arc reads like a resume for “SEC Unlimited”: “Skills include: running through traffic, reading playbooks, and surviving group texts from 36 teammates.” Meanwhile, Arkansas is dangling cash like carnival tickets, promising recruits they’ll be the belle of the SEC ball so long as they don’t ghost the program. After all, nothing says “welcome to college” like a financial commitment that screams “we’ll keep you if you behave.”

Cougars’ Relentless Press Drowns Razorbacks’ Rally

Arkansas’ four-game win streak met a brick wall when Top 10 Houston’s defense forced 12 turnovers and built a 21-point halftime lead en route to a 94–85 victory at the Prudential Center. Emanuel Sharp’s 16 second-half points snuffed out any hope of a comeback, despite 27 points from Darius Acuff Jr. Arkansas shot a season-low 60% from the line (21-for-35) and missed key free throws late. Coach John Calipari noted fixable issues—turnovers, free throws—but praised the team’s rebounding (34–33) and competitive spirit.

If sports had a version of “Groundhog Day,” Arkansas would be trapped in it—turnovers, missed freebies, and just when you think they break free, Houston flips the switch again. Watching the Cougars’ press is like witnessing caffeine-fueled robots dissect a pickup game. Meanwhile, Calipari cheerfully reminds everyone this was “just an off day,” because nothing screams “just off” like a 21-point hole. At least the Hogs won the rebounding battle; they can sleep easy on the couch made of 33 defensive boards.
