Clemson’s ACC DT Hunt: Transfer Portal Frenzy

Clemson’s ACC DT Hunt: Transfer Portal Frenzy - painting of Clemson Tigers football venue

Clemson’s All-Out Blitz for a Star ACC Defensive Tackle

Clemson’s defensive line guru Tom Allen has embarked on his seventh foray into the transfer portal, zeroing in on Pittsburgh’s Francis Brewu. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, Brewu joins a growing list of interior linemen courted by the Tigers, who lost key pieces Peter Woods and DeMonte Capehart to the NFL and watched Stephiylan Green and Caden Story jump ship via the portal. Brewu, a three-star prospect from Ohio, impressed as a true freshman with 15 tackles, three for loss, then earned All-ACC Honorable Mention after a breakout sophomore year. Clemson has already hosted three potential recruits and landed one commitment—proof that Allen’s aggressive strategy may soon pay off in spades.

If Clemson’s defensive line recruitment were a Black Friday sale, you’d find Tom Allen elbowing nosy shoppers out of the way for that last 75-inch TV. “Excuse me, but that’s my next sack artist!” he cries, clipboard in hand. Meanwhile Brewu is reportedly torn between accepting candy from Tennessee, dinner from Notre Dame, an Indiana souvenir, or a Miami beach towel, but all while batting back Clemson’s late-night texts that read, “U up for some pass-rush drills?” It’s recruitment theater so frantic it’s making Clemson fans wonder if the Tigers have accidentally hacked into the NCAA’s matrix of never-ending eligibility. Coming soon: Clemson announces strong interest in offensive linemen who haven’t been born yet—applications due by midnight.
