Gamecocks Reload OL and Embrace Family Legacy

Gamecocks Reload OL and Embrace Family Legacy - painting of South Carolina Gamecocks football venue

Gamecocks Snatch Versatile Lineman Carter Miller

South Carolina bolsters its interior offensive line by landing 6’2″, 295-pound Carter Miller via the transfer portal. A Ravenwood High product, Miller spent 2022–23 at James Madison (15 games, eight starts at left guard), helped JMU rank top 30 nationally in multiple offensive categories, then moved on to Louisiana-Monroe in 2024, starting all 12 games at center with a 76.7 PFF pass-blocking grade. In 2025, he appeared in nine games at UCF before committing to the Gamecocks, marking the third portal addition alongside WR Jayden Gibson and DL Jordan Thomas.

Looks like Shane Beamer has mastered the art of Craigslist recruiting: “Wanted: Versatile interior lineman. Must have PFF score above roommate’s GPA. Bonus points if you can play guard, center, and occasionally fetch coffee.” Good luck convincing high school phenoms that your program’s best pitch is a rotating door of transfers—after all, who needs continuity when you can have a different blocker every week?

Gamecocks Shore Up OL With Portal Gem Hank Purvis

South Carolina addresses trench woes by grabbing Purdue interior lineman Hank Purvis in the transfer portal. A two-star recruit from Bishop Carroll High, Purvis first played for UNLV (14 games on OL and special teams) under Dan Mullen, then transferred to Purdue for 2025, where he made seven starts in 11 appearances, contributing to an offense that averaged 20.2 points, 1,463 rush yards, and 2,368 passing yards per game. He becomes the second offensive line portal addition of the day and the fourth overall portal commit for the Gamecocks.

Nothing says “we’re not panicking” quite like scrambling for depth after losing nine linemen to the same portal you’re now raiding. It’s like watching a sandwich artist panic when they run out of ham and start grabbing every deli tray in sight—sure, sure, it’s all meat, but do any of these slices actually match?

Gamecocks Welcome Family Affair in Stone Furrey

South Carolina lands 2026 wide receiver Stone Furrey, son of Gamecocks’ WR coach Mike Furrey, out of Dutch Fork High (5’10”, 175 lbs). Despite modest rankings, Furrey brings pedigree and insider knowledge to a recruiting class that already features 15 signees, including five-star IOL Darius Gray and four-star QB Landon Duckworth. South Carolina outpaced Marshall, Central Michigan, Miami (OH), and several others to secure the family tie commitment.

Who needs meritocracy when nepotism works so well? Nothing says “fair shake” like pulling a kid right off dad’s coaching staff and calling it a recruiting coup. The best part: you get guaranteed hustle on third-and-long because junior’s job security is literally tethered to coach dad’s happy tears.
