Spartans Build Strength with Transfer Portal Haul - painting of Michigan State Spartans football venue

Spartans Score Big with Transfer Tackle Robert Wright Jr.

Michigan State has secured Georgia Southern transfer Robert Wright Jr., a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive tackle with three years of eligibility remaining. Wright, who started at right tackle for the Eagles and earned strong pass-blocking marks from Pro Football Focus—including zero penalties over 436 pass-blocking snaps—visited East Lansing and chose MSU over Louisville and Arkansas. He joins a Spartan offensive line corps already bolstered by UConn’s Ben Murawski and South Carolina’s Nick Sharpe, positioning himself as a key backup behind veteran Conner Moore. New O-line coach Nick Tabacca now counts 15 portal additions this offseason as MSU remakes its front five.

In a move that screams “we heard there was a sale on mammoth men who can shove people,” Michigan State’s front office dove headfirst into the portal bargain bin and snagged Wright like he was the last TV on Black Friday. The Spartans essentially said, “Why recruit high schoolers when you can collect seasoned linemen on layaway?” With zero penalties on his ledger, Wright’s clean record practically makes him the patron saint of holding blocks—unlike some guys who think holding flags are decorations for their caps. If you’re missing your daily quota of football clichés and feel-good success stories, just beam Wright into Spartan Stadium; he’ll handle the big uglies in the trenches so the coaches can keep refreshing Twitter for their next portal prospect.

MSU Nabs Freshman Sensation Marvis Parrish from WKU

Shortly after landing Cam Edwards from UConn, Michigan State added Western Kentucky freshman star Marvis Parrish to its backfield. Parrish, who rushed for 779 yards and two touchdowns in his true freshman season—576 on the ground and 203 receiving—enters the portal with three years of eligibility. His addition gives MSU at least three viable RB options behind Edwards and Brandon Tullis, with promising young talents like Bryson Williams and Jace Clarizio waiting in the wings. Under Pat Fitzgerald and RB coach Devon Spalding, the Spartans quickly plugged holes left by departures Makhi Frazier and Elijah Tau-Tolliver.

It appears Michigan State treats the transfer portal like an all-you-can-eat buffet, piling its plate high with running backs until the coach practically needs a forklift to navigate the crowded dinner table. Marvis Parrish arrives fresh off a true freshman campaign that had fans whispering, “Why wasn’t this kid a five-star?” Now he’s bound for East Lansing, where he’ll compete in a backfield so deep it makes the Mariana Trench look like a kiddie pool. If he doesn’t like his carries, he can stroll back into the portal—assuming he can find five other guys to swap spots with. Meanwhile, MSU’s coaches can sit back and chuckle as they assemble their own X-Men squad of ball carriers, because nothing says “college football strategy” like collecting talent like Pokémon cards.
