Tar Heels Overhaul: New Linebacker and QB Shakeup

Tar Heels Overhaul: New Linebacker and QB Shakeup - painting of North Carolina Tar Heels football venue

Tar Heels Snag Tackle-Titan Linebacker

After a dismal 4-8 season under new head coach Bill Belichick, North Carolina saw its top tackler Khmori House bolt for the transfer portal. In desperate need to bolster a floundering defense, the Tar Heels landed Richmond standout Peyton Seelmann, a sophomore phenom who piled up 120 tackles, 2.5 sacks, four QB hurries, two interceptions and five pass breakups in 2025. Standing 6’1″ and weighing 225 pounds, Seelmann brings the production and playmaking that Chapel Hill sorely lacked.

Finally, Chapel Hill’s defense has found its hero—just in time to remind fans that college football is actually a team sport, not a charity quest. Seelmann’s arrival means incoming quarterbacks can now get sacked by an opponent rather than their own teammates’ lackluster coverage. It’s like watching someone install seat belts in a demolition derby and calling it progress—brutally necessary, yet oddly satisfying.

QB Carousel: Tar Heels Scramble for Signal Caller

The quarterback room has resembled a revolving door this offseason. Gio Lopez, Max Johnson and Bryce Baker have all exited, while true freshman Travis Burgess, Texas A&M’s Miles O’Neill and Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr. have arrived. None combine high-level experience with sky-high potential; Burgess is untested, Edwards Jr. is the classic backup, and O’Neill is the college equivalent of a promising potted plant.

North Carolina’s front office deserves an award for turning quarterback recruitment into a circus act worthy of prime-time reality TV—complete with surprise exits, last-minute signings and the occasional cameo by a four-star freshman who still needs eligibility tests. It’s the perfect recipe for fans who enjoy nail-biting suspense, particularly when the “starter” label could land on anyone, including that one guy who still thinks flag football counts as college experience.
