Irish Overhaul Lineup: Brewu on D and Graham on O - painting of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football venue

Pitt’s Run-Stopping Machine Joins the Irish

After a 10-day transfer portal drought, Notre Dame struck gold by landing Pitt defensive tackle Francis Brewu. The Columbus native racked up 42 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and a forced fumble over two seasons at Pitt, and his backfield havoc made him a hot commodity. Despite Ohio State looming nearby, Brewu opted for South Bend—lured by a potential starting role and a fat NIL offer from the same coach who first recruited him at Pitt. With Heisman hopeful CJ Carr leading the offense, Brewu fills Notre Dame’s biggest roster hole and could be the X-factor in a national title run.

Notre Dame’s new slogan should be “Why recruit when you can pluck?” Apparently, the Fighting Irish have turned campus into Amazon Prime for college football transfers. “Need a Defensive Tackle? Same-day delivery!” Meanwhile, other programs are left sending smoke signals to recruit prospects. Francis Brewu probably thought, “Why not shop where the coach already knows my price tag?” And just like that, ND checked off their checklist: DT ✔️, wide receiver ✔️, bragging rights over Ohio State ✔️. Next up: acquiring Rocket scientists and gourmet chefs via the portal.

Buckeye Bolt Snatched: Graham Heads to South Bend

Notre Dame struck again by signing Ohio State transfer wideout Mylan Graham, joining fellow Buckeye Quincy Porter in the Irish receiver room. A Fort Wayne native and lifelong friend of ND safety Tae Johnson, Graham only caught six passes for 93 yards last season at Ohio State but craved more playing time. With receiver coach Brian Hartline’s exit from Columbus, Graham jumped at the chance to be a primary target in South Bend, where competition is slightly less crowded than at the Buckeyes’ star-studded WR factory.

Once upon a time, Notre Dame spent years begging for top wide receivers. Now they just stroll into Columbus, don hi-vis vests, and quietly “borrow” Buckeye talent. Graham probably told himself, “I wanted an Irish tattoo anyway.” Meanwhile, Ohio State’s WR depth chart is busier than Grand Central Station, so why fight for scraps when you can grill corned beef and cabbage every Friday night? The Irish cupboard was empty—so they raided the Buckeye pantry. Who needs loyalty when there’s playing time and shamrocks involved?
