Assembly Hall Rollercoaster: Indiana’s Last-Second Miracle
Indiana dominated Wisconsin for nearly 38 minutes, only to see a comfortable lead evaporate in the final minute of regulation. Trailing 77–74 with 30 seconds left, sixth-year guard Lamar Wilkerson delivered a clutch layup and two free throws to force overtime. In the extra period, Wilkerson sank the final four points, while Wisconsin’s Braeden Carrington missed a desperation heave at the buzzer. Indiana finished 78–77, snapping a one-game skid after a loss to USC and extending a four-of-five win stretch. Balance reigned as Sam Alexis poured in 19 points on 90% shooting, Tucker DeVries hit 16, and Conor Enright chipped in 11 with six assists.
Congratulations to Coach DeVries for turning what looked like the Indiana version of “How to Blow a Lead for Dummies” into a championship highlight reel. Fans were treated to all the big moments: a suspiciously silent coach strolling away from the bench, players suddenly remembering free throws exist, and a half-court prayer from Wisconsin that clanked off as if the rim had a homing device for basketballs. Who needs boring blowouts when you can have stress-induced gray hairs and enough heart-stopping drama to justify overpriced concessions? Next time, just skip regulation and sell “Hoosiers Heart Attack Tickets” at triple the price.
