Baylor Transfer Keaton Thomas Set to Dominate Rebel Defense

Keaton Thomas, a standout linebacker from Baylor and former Northeast Mississippi Community College star, officially joined the Ole Miss Rebels after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. Known for his relentless downhill rushing style, Thomas racked up 99 tackles in 2025, plus a sack, three pass breakups, and an interception. Ole Miss defensive coordinator Bryan Brown has praised Thomas as “the bell cow” of the defense, lauding his tenacity, communication skills, and single-minded full-speed approach—so much so that coaches occasionally have to yell “whoa” just to slow him down. In spring practice, Thomas said he fell in love with the Rebels’ culture after a seven-hour football summit with head coach Pete Golding, calling Golding “raw, authentic, hilarious,” and proclaiming Oxford “home” after one visit.

In other words, the Rebels just signed the linebacker equivalent of a runaway freight train who then rode a unicycle across a tightrope—blindfolded—while quoting Sun Tzu. Brown’s glowing praise suggests Thomas might be the first player in school history to cause both opposing quarterbacks and local wildlife to flee in terror. And let’s face it, any coach who plans an entire afternoon of talk ball only to discover that his new star runs through drills like he’s auditioning for a Marvel blockbuster deserves his own comic strip. If “one speed” is full turbo, we can expect Thomas to break at least a few clocks—though hopefully not the ref’s USB port in the process. Just don’t be surprised when future opponents send him upside-down bouquets in the mail, begging him to take it easy.
