Florida’s O-Line Revival: Four-Star Miller Joins Gators

The Florida Gators picked up a four-star offensive lineman, Peyton Miller from Anna (TX), to end a recent recruiting drought. Miller, a 6-5, 290-pound interior lineman ranked top 10 at his position nationally, committed over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Penn State, Texas, and Texas Tech. Coached by Phil Trautwein—whose NFL track record appealed to Miller—the Gators now boast two top-10 ranked O-linemen (the other is five-star Maxwell Hiller). Miller’s pledge continues April’s recruiting momentum, joining multiple commits including QB Davin Davidson, CB Aamaury Fountain, TE Tommy Douglas, WR Anthony Jennings, DL De’Voun Kendrick, S Kailib Dillard, DL Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui, and targets like Amare Patterson. First-year head coach Jon Sumrall highlights Florida’s academic prestige, weather, program history, and “authentic relationships” as key recruiting assets.

Welcome to the triathlon formerly known as “securing offensive linemen.” Florida’s new playbook: find anyone who can bench-press a small sedan and actually enjoys blocking. Coach Trautwein, the self-appointed Lineman Whisperer, guarantees he’ll turn 290 pounds of raw athletic dough into roadblocks thicker than Florida’s humidity. Meanwhile, the “drought-ending” label on Miller’s commitment suggests our Gators’ recruitment was as parched as a desert—good thing we’re back in business. Who needs water when you’ve got enough pancake blocks to dam the Suwannee River?

Gators Grab Lithuanian Tower to Anchor Frontcourt

Florida’s men’s basketball program signed 6-10 Lithuanian Arturas Butajevas for the 2026-27 freshman class. Butajevas averaged 15.6 points and 7.6 rebounds with Unicaja Malaga’s under-22 team and posted 13.9 points, 9.3 rebounds at the 2025 FIBA U18 EuroBasket, including a 25-point, 16-rebound performance vs. Greece. A veteran of the Lithuanian youth national teams, he arrives as frontcourt depth after Micah Handlogten entered the transfer portal and Rueben Chinyelu explored the NBA draft. Returning bigs Alex Condon and Viktor Mikic join senior Thomas Haugh and a deep guard corps. Coach Todd Golden emphasizes continuity, eyeing additional size if Chinyelu remains in the draft.

Behold, the newest import from distant shores: a lanky European legend-in-the-making who probably thinks “sunblock” is a mythical potion. Coach Golden insists Butajevas will “fit seamlessly,” which translates to “we’ll pray he remembers English plays by midseason.” And with senior Thomas Haugh defying the draft whispers, this frontcourt reunion feels like a family reunion where everyone actually wants to be there. Meanwhile, keep an eye on Rueben Chinyelu—because nothing says “offseason drama” like a star deciding between cashing in or cashing out.
