Duke head coach Jon Scheyer capped off his stellar 2026 recruiting class by securing a commitment from 7’0″, 230-pound Spanish big man Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje. Originally from Florida but honed at FC Barcelona, the 16-year-old prospect adds transition speed, passing chops, pick-and-pop shooting, and rim-finishing finesse to an already loaded frontcourt. With veteran scorers like Patrick Ngongba and Dame Sarr returning, plus portal standouts and a top-three national recruiting haul, Duke now boasts one of the deepest rosters in college basketball. Because nothing screams “balanced roster” like plucking towering teenagers from overseas and calling it genius. Sure, Duke already had enough talent to field a small army, but why stop there? Who cares about classes, homesickness, or actual school?
