CFP Powerhouse Snatches FSU’s Star 2027 QB
The top-ranked 2027 quarterback recruit, Wonderful Monds IV of Vero Beach, Florida, has flipped from Florida State to Notre Dame following a mid-April visit to South Bend. Monds IV, standing at 6’3” and 230 pounds, reclassified into the Class of 2027 and drew offers from major programs including Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and the Seminoles. Despite multiple campus trips to Tallahassee—Junior Day in January, another visit in March, and extensive meetings with FSU’s Mike Norvell and quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker—Monds IV opted for the Fighting Irish. He missed much of his sophomore year due to injury but still threw for 691 yards, seven touchdowns, and zero interceptions in five appearances. This defection is the latest in a streak of quarterback targets slipping away, following commitments by Israel Abrams, Jake Nawrot, and Andre Adams to other schools. Florida State has yet to fully establish its own prep-sourced QB in significant game action under Norvell, raising red flags for future signal callers. Meanwhile, the Seminoles’ 2027 class sits at No. 34 nationally, bolstered mostly by defensive pledges.
In an age where winning hearts—and quarterbacks—relies on more than just a shiny campus tour, Notre Dame apparently deployed a powerful combination of leprechaun magic and home-cooked corned beef to lure Monds IV away. Meanwhile, FSU is left clutching photo albums from Junior Day and pondering whether their QB board meetings secretly doubled as a group napping session. One can only imagine the solemn chant echoing through Tallahassee: “We really tried, we promise.” Alas, the Seminoles now face the dire prospect of reinstalling a backup walk-on or dusting off that dusty playbook from 1999. At this rate, recruiting 2027 may become a headline event for a reverse heist—pro teams swooping in to rescue FSU’s stranded prospects.
