QB Continuity Secured: How MSU Found Its Long-Term Signal Caller

After experimenting with Aidan Chiles over two seasons, Michigan State’s coaching staff has tapped Alessio Milivojevic as their new starting quarterback. Milivojevic seized the role in the final four games of last year, throwing for over 250 yards in three contests and delivering nine touchdowns against just two interceptions. His poise under pressure and knack for reading defenses convinced Pat Fitzgerald he could be the Spartans’ starter for multiple seasons. Meanwhile, the program’s future is bolstered by four-star freshman Kayd Coffman, who will likely redshirt but is already impressing coaches with his football IQ and readiness to learn.

Finally, Spartan fans can stop fearing every summer brings yet another drive-by QB carousel. After more revolving doors than a Vegas hotel, MSU seems to have locked down the position—until next season’s transfer portal apocalypse, of course. Milivojevic’s calm in the pocket is by far the steadiest thing to happen in East Lansing since someone—anyone—found the coffee machine. And with Coffman on deck, the only thing left is praying he doesn’t discover YouTube spin-moves before his redshirt year ends. Buckle up, Spartan Nation: stability is the new chaos.

Spring Ball Sparks Safety Showdown at MSU

Two safety spots are essentially claimed for fall—veteran Nikai Martinez at free safety and newcomer Michael Richard as nickelback. But the strong safety position is wide open, with Maine transfer Devin Vaught and redshirt senior Aveon Grose locked in a head-to-head battle. Vaught boasts high snap counts and ball-hawk credentials from FCS Maine, while Grose has shown big-play ability on special teams and in late-season reps. Freshman Deuce Edwards lurks as a potential dark horse, ensuring the battle will be one to watch through preseason camp.

Move over reality TV—MSU’s spring showcase just delivered the cliffhanger of the year: “Strong Safety Face-Off.” Will the mighty transfer conquer East Lansing, or will the scrappy redshirt senior reclaim his throne? And who invited the freshman sleeper act to crash this party? Think of it as “Game of Zones,” minus dragons and with a lot more turf burn. Tune in for the next episode of Spartan football, where every practice rep could be legendary—or socially awkward handshake territory.

MSU’s Texas Takeover: Rome Ewell’s Spartan Visit

Michigan State extended a late offer to three-star Texas linebacker Rome Ewell, who promptly scheduled an official visit to East Lansing for June 19-21. Ranked 1,046th nationally and 96th among linebackers in the 2027 class, Ewell recorded 150 tackles, 13 for loss, and four sacks last season. He’s already lined up official visits to Houston, Louisville, and Iowa State, leaving a Boston College trip in limbo. MSU and coach Max Bullough hope to woo the spring standout as part of a larger linebacker recruiting push for 2027.

Congratulations, MSU: you’re now in the Texas recruiting game! Better dust off that ten-gallon hat and practice the word “y’all.” Rome Ewell’s official visit is basically a Spartan cabal invading Springtown—so be polite, but don’t let him leave without that flannel bucket hat and Spartan branded cowboy boots. Meanwhile, Houston and Louisville coaches are frantically checking Google Translate to decode Bullough’s accent. It’s football recruitment at its finest: equal parts cowboy shootout and high-school Tinder swipe.
