FSU Recruits Lock in Official Visits and Big Offers

FSU Recruits Lock in Official Visits and Big Offers - painting of Florida State Seminoles football venue

Defensive Titan Karlos May Rolls into FSU

Karlos May, a four-star defensive lineman from Ramsay High, has scheduled his official visit to Tallahassee for May 29–31, joining Florida State’s top targets alongside Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State, and Ole Miss. Last month he attended an FSU scrimmage and has impressed under coach Terrance Knighton’s watch. May recorded 43 tackles, eight for loss, four sacks, and two pick-six interceptions as a junior. At 6-3½, 305 pounds, he’s ranked No. 182 nationally, No. 22 among DL, and No. 8 in Alabama for the 2027 class by 247Sports.

Oh joy, another 300-plus-pound high school kid who thinks jumping on some cones and bull-rushing fellow teenagers will magically translate to keeping quarterbacks from finding their receivers. Florida State’s coaching staff will no doubt roll out the crimson carpet—complete with a scrimmage popcorn machine—hoping May isn’t just here for the free hotel slippers. After all, what says “family atmosphere” like cramming five-star dreams into a three-star dorm room?

Texas’ Ball Hawk Joshua Banks Eyes Seminoles

Florida State extended an offer to four-star cornerback Joshua Banks from Atascocita High, a versatile athlete with over 20 scholarship offers, including from Texas, LSU, and UCLA. Banks, who notched one interception, eight catches for 79 yards and a score, plus two punt return touchdowns last season, stands 6-0 and 170 pounds. He’s ranked No. 176 nationally, No. 23 at CB, and No. 28 in Texas for the 2027 class by 247Sports. No official visits are yet set.

Because nothing screams “elite program” like chasing down a kid whose most impressive feat to date is snagging punts in high school. Florida State’s coaches will now dust off their “winning up north” sales pitch by reminding Banks that Tallahassee nights have two temperatures: sweltering and swampy. Meanwhile, Banks ponders whether to choose the school with orange helmets or the one where he might actually get a date to homecoming.

Tennessee Whirlwind RB Asa Barnes Makes Seminoles a Priority

Three-star running back Asa Barnes reversed course on his official visits, swapping Kentucky for Florida State from June 5–7. The Westview High product rushed for 1,208 yards and 25 touchdowns in his junior season, plus 567 yards and six scores receiving. At 5-11 and 200 pounds, Barnes helped his team go 14-0 and win the state title. He’s ranked No. 530 overall, No. 35 at RB, and No. 24 in Tennessee for the 2027 class by 247Sports.

Ah yes, the classic “oops, I made a wrong turn” recruiting move. Barnes must have realized that nothing says “future Heisman contender” like signing with a program whose last two seasons could be described as “yikes.” Still, Florida State’s coaches will paint a rosy picture of championships past while quietly praying Barnes doesn’t Google “FSU running back room depth chart.” Welcome to Tallahassee, where your highlight reel meets a 7-17 record.
