Wildcats Snag Seasoned Rim Protector
Kentucky’s men’s basketball program has secured a veteran presence at the five-spot by landing Washington transfer center Franck Kepnang. Seeking a seventh year of eligibility due to past injuries, the 6-foot-11 big man averaged 6.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 22.9 minutes per game for the Huskies last season. Kepnang enjoyed his best outing against Nevada, posting 15 points, five boards and four blocks. Known as an intimidating interior defender, he spent two seasons at Oregon before transferring to Washington and now provides much-needed depth behind returning players like Reece Potter. Kentucky hopes his experience and shot-blocking prowess will solidify its frontcourt rotation.
Move over, baby-faced freshmen—Coach Pope just went full Geritol on us. After globe-trotting to Israel and striking out like a Tinder date gone wrong, he finally capped a recruiting spree by snagging the most injury-prone ring chaser this side of the Mississippi. Franck “Mr. Bag of Screws” Kepnang’s pursuit of a seventh year in college hoops makes him the academic equivalent of a Marvel multiverse cameo—everybody’s seen him before, nobody fully understands why he’s back. Yet here he is, ready to swat shots like a bouncer at a frat party and bring that charming “been-through-it-all” aura to Rupp Arena. If Kentucky was running low on insurance policies, they’ve just bought a lifetime subscription.
