Trojans’ High Stakes: Bowls, Freshmen & Big Ten Dangers

Trojans' High Stakes: Bowls, Freshmen & Big Ten Dangers - painting of USC Trojans football venue

Riley’s Redemption or Another Las Vegas Letdown?

After a 9-4 finish and a loss in the Alamo Bowl, USC fans are banking on the Las Vegas Bowl to validate Lincoln Riley’s fifth year. On3’s projections pit the Trojans against Michigan, rekindling fears of another mid‐tier bowl appearance instead of a playoff berth. With star QB Jayden Maiava back and a fresh defensive coordinator in Gary Patterson, this matchup could either solidify progress or spotlight yet another season of “almosts.”

Nothing says “we aimed for the playoff” like booking a backwater bowl in Sin City—where you can lose to a team you didn’t even schedule. If USC really wanted a fresh start, why not a cameo on Fear Factor instead of the Las Vegas Bowl? At least then the Trojan Horse would have a fighting chance against scorpions.

From Cowboys to Coliseum: Dez’s Trojan Love Fest

Dez Bryant—once a Dallas Cowboy standout—has thrown his weight behind USC’s incoming five-star wideout, Ethan “Boobie” Feaster. The Texas duo trained together, with Bryant dubbing Feaster “damn good at it” in a viral social media post. Feaster, calling Bryant his “big brother,” credits Dez for mentoring him and keeping him humble. Ranked as a top-4 national recruit, Boobie aims to fill the void left by departing stars and instantly energize Lincoln Riley’s receiver room.

So the man who once trashed Trojan fans on MNF now moonlights as a USC hype man—proof that in college football, loyalty is measured in Twitter likes and nickname potential. Nothing says “program stability” like recruiting advice from a guy whose last college geometry class was in 2005. But hey, if “Boobie” helps Riley dodge another wideout crisis, maybe Dez can adopt a new Trojan salute.

Rutgers: USC’s Sneaky Season‐Buster

USC’s path to Big Ten glory runs straight into the Scarlet Knights. Scheduled as USC’s fourth game in 2026, Rutgers looms large as a potential momentum killer before a brutal stretch against Oregon, Washington, and Penn State. A slip-up against the underdog could derail playoff hopes, tank Rose Bowl dreams, and place Lincoln Riley under an even hotter microscope as the Trojans scramble to salvage their season.

Nothing screams overconfidence like waving off Rutgers, a team whose mascot screams “underdog.” Maybe USC’s game plan includes sending a friendship bracelet to Piscataway instead of actual scouting reports. But if those Scarlet Knights hand Lincoln Riley a stunner, it’ll be less “Fight On” and more “Frantically Re‐Fight Every Week On.”
