Kepnang’s Incoming Force: Kentucky’s Secret Weapon

Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats secured a potential game-changer by adding former Washington center Franck Kepnang. Standing 6’11″ and sporting averages of 6.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game last season, Kepnang arrives after stints at Oregon and Washington. Despite an injury-plagued six-year college career that limited him to 111 appearances, he’s expected to earn a waiver and slot into a 15–20 minute backup role behind Malachi Moreno. His proven physicality and existing chemistry with point guard Zoom Diallo promise to shore up Kentucky’s interior defense and rebounding woes.

At long last, Kentucky fans can breathe easy knowing they didn’t have to recruit yet another 5’8″ guard who excels only at text-book dimes and midrange pull-ups. Instead, they’ve grabbed a literal tower who blocks shots, gobbles boards, and—miraculously—is still standing upright after six college seasons full of medical visits. One can only imagine the NCAA office, decked out in beige suits and clipboards, scrambling to approve a waiver for yet another senior citizen on the hardwood. Meanwhile, rival teams will tremble at the sight of Kepnang’s flailing arms, wondering if he’s defending the rim or auditioning for the world’s strictest umbrella-flipping competition. Forget “One and Done”—this man’s determined to become “Forever and Healthy”… eventually.
