Cornerback Ditches Tennessee Visit for Clemson Future

Cornerback Ditches Tennessee Visit for Clemson Future - painting of Clemson Tigers football venue

Flip-Flopping Corners: Tiger-Bound Swap

The Clemson Tigers’ recruiting momentum took another turn when three-star cornerback Nash Johnson III announced he’d scrap his official visit to Tennessee in favor of a trip to Clemson from June 12–14. The Powder Springs, Georgia, native, ranked No. 530 nationally and No. 55 at his position, had originally committed to Alabama before reopening his recruitment in April. With visits lined up to Auburn, Miami, Clemson and Ole Miss, Johnson will decide on July 1. While Auburn appears to hold the early edge—having extended one of his first FBS offers and hosted four unofficial visits—Clemson is surging thanks to recent big commits and coaching interest. Johnson’s decision could reshape the landscape of the 2027 recruiting class.

In a stunning display of commitment gymnastics, our young cornerback has made enough official visits to rival a political candidate’s campaign bus tour. Who knew that the road to college glory required so much mileage? One minute you’re pledging your undying loyalty to the Volunteers, the next you’re booking flights to Tigertown. Perhaps the real recruitment strategy here is to leave coaches guessing until July 1—nothing rallies fanbases like a last-minute plot twist. Stay tuned as recruiting season turns into the NCAA’s own version of “Survivor: Campus Edition.”
