Bryant Haines’ Top 5 Coaching Landing Spots

Bryant Haines’ Top 5 Coaching Landing Spots - painting of Indiana Hoosiers football venue

Hoosier Hero Haines Hits the Big Time

Bryant Haines, Indiana’s 40-year-old defensive mastermind who led the Hoosiers to a 16-0 season and the Broyles Award, is being eyed as a head-coach candidate. With Power Conference aspirations, Haines could leap into a vacancy at Cincinnati, North Carolina, Iowa, Northwestern or Maryland. Each program offers unique fits: from reviving Luke Fickell’s defense in Ohio to bringing a youthful spark to Chapel Hill post-Belichick, modernizing Iowa’s physical style, upgrading Northwestern’s portal prowess or resetting Maryland culture in College Park.

If you thought college football coaching was a calm, genteel profession, think again. It’s more like musical chairs in a mosh pit, and Haines is wearing a studded referee outfit. Picture David Braun clutching his clipboard in Chicago, only to find Haines sliding into the chair with a grin. Meanwhile, Kirk Ferentz is googling “punting rules for head coaches” and Mike Locksley is checking his PTO balance. At UNC, they’re already drafting a “thank you, Bill” banner while secretly DM’ing Haines. And somewhere in Columbus, a lifesize cardboard cutout of Luke Fickell is sobbing because the kid from Bloomington is coming for his defense first crown.
