Seminoles in Final Ten for Gatorade Texas Star

During late May, FSU made the final ten schools vying for five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, who amassed 3,502 yards and 59 touchdowns in his junior season. Despite the long-standing FSU offer, Williams-Callis has never visited campus and boasts visits to several other programs. Florida State might need to secure an official visit to improve their odds, as other suitors include powerhouses like Oregon, Texas, and LSU. Williams-Callis, listed at 5-foot-7.5 and 190 pounds, ranks as the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 3 running back in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite Ratings.

The Seminoles are now acting like a middle school boy asking the head cheerleader to the dance: emotive, hopeful, and armed only with a lukewarm promise. They’ve dangled this offer since 2022, yet never managed an official invite. Meanwhile, other colleges are throwing campus tours, cowboy hats, and perhaps an occasional armadillo parade to impress the Texas star. One can almost hear Coach Norvell whispering from the sideline: “We really, really want you… maybe?” It’s a charming scramble that makes FSU’s recruiting tactics resemble a desperate TikTok dance—awkward, earnest, and just a tad cringe.

Homegrown Safety Finally Scores Seminole Scholarship

Florida State Seminoles extended a scholarship offer to four-star safety Cyion Smith from Blountstown High School, marking their first local recruit offer since 2024. Smith, who decommitted from Mississippi State, boasts scholarship offers from top programs like Auburn, Miami, and South Carolina. He tallied 50 tackles, four TFLs, seven interceptions, and ten pass breakups as a sophomore. At 6-foot-3 and 160 pounds, he ranks as the No. 228 overall prospect and the No. 19 safety in the 2028 class. Smith has visited Tallahassee at least seven times, demonstrating mutual interest.

Florida State’s reckoning for local talent has more suspense than a microwave pretending to defrost pizza. After seven campus visits and multiple telepathic shouts from Blountstown, FSU decided to swipe right on Cyion Smith. Apparently, familiarity finally wins over FOMO—who knew proximity matters? Meanwhile, Smith’s high school highlights are so impressive they’d make a cat video jealous. FSU fans are now breathing a sigh of relief, as they can brag about landing a homegrown hero without venturing beyond 100 miles. Next year: maybe an offer to someone 150 miles away!
