Hurricanes Lock Down Opening Week Kickoff Times

With 100 days to go until the 2026 college football season kicks off, Miami Hurricanes fans finally know when to clear their calendars. The ACC and ESPN revealed dates and times for the first four games: a Sept. 4 opener at Stanford at 9 p.m. ET, a home debut vs. Florida A&M on Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. on ACC Network, a Sept. 18 trip to Wake Forest at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN, and a Sept. 26 clash with Central Michigan at 6:30 p.m. on The CW. Riding the momentum of a recent national championship appearance under Mario Cristobal, the Canes boast one of the country’s deepest rosters and are poised for another postseason run.

Get your calendars ready, Hurricanes fans, because between Netflix premieres and your cousin’s surprise quinceañera, there’s finally a reason to tune into live sports again. The ACC thoughtfully spaced kickoff times so you can binge two episodes of whatever you’ve been “meaning to watch” before flipping to ESPN. And if you miss the Stanford opener because your dog ate the remote, don’t worry—they’ve blocked every relevant channel until you’ve fully invested in college football. Nothing says “National Championship contender” like knowing you’ll be glued to a screen at odd hours. Excited? You should be. Now, where did I put my foam finger?

Lucas Unveils His Portal-Perfect Canes Dream Team

In his second season, head coach Jai Lucas is rebuilding Miami’s basketball program from the transfer portal up. With only three returners from last year’s squad, Lucas targeted top talent: Acaden Lewis as the new floor general, Somto Cyril to patrol the paint, and sharpshooters like Nick Dorn, Brent Bland, and DeShawn Goode to stretch defenses. Lucas stressed the need for shooting, size, and depth—aiming to deploy eight or nine players each night—and leaned on past relationships from Duke and Georgia to lure these pieces into Coral Gables.

Move over basketball, because Lucas is playing GM, recruiter, and analytics wizard all at once. He’s scouring the portal like it’s a Black Friday sale, loading up on point guards and big men as if he’s building the ultimate action-figure collection. Who needs loyalty when you can draft a new hero every season? And depth? He’s planning to trot out more players than a Broadway cast. If everything clicks, the Hurricanes might run more rotations than a NASCAR pit crew. Grab your popcorn—it’s going to be a wild ride watching Lucas assemble his transfer Avengers.
