From LSU Setbacks to Wolverine Comeback
After two consecutive season-ending injuries—a torn ACL in 2024–25 and an Achilles tear early in 2025–26—6’10” forward Jalen Reed has officially landed at Michigan. Despite only playing 14 games over the past two seasons, Reed reports he’s five months post-op and back on the court taking shots and grinding in the weight room. Though he won’t promise to suit up for the Wolverines’ season opener, he expects to be playing basketball by then. Reed will join Moustapha Thiam and J.P. Estrella in Michigan’s frontcourt rotation and could even compete for minutes at small forward, touting a versatile skill set that includes rebounding, three-point shooting, slashing, and positionless defense. With two years of eligibility remaining, Reed aims to showcase his high basketball IQ and athleticism for Michigan fans.
In a plot twist even Hollywood would envy, Reed’s rehab saga has all the makings of an underdog blockbuster—starring ice baths, resistance bands, and more physical therapists than a neighborhood soccer league. Now that he’s swapped LSU’s colors for maize and blue, we can only imagine the pep talks he’s receiving: “Remember, Jalen, nothing says ‘Wolverine grit’ like posting Insta-stories of leg extensions.” Will he suit up opening night? Who knows! But if anyone can turn Achilles misery into March Madness glory, it’s a guy who’s already had more surgeries than endorsements. Stay tuned—Wolverine Nation might just get the comeback season of the century.
