Tiny Ace Addie Edwards Dominates Alabama Community Colleges

Addie Edwards burst onto the junior college softball scene in 2025, leading Northeast Alabama Community College’s Mustangs to both the ACCC championship and the NJCAA Division I national title. The right-handed ace pitched every inning of the national tournament, earning tournament MVP honors, while also claiming ACCC Pitcher of the Year. Across the season, Edwards amassed a flawless 34-0 record, a 1.12 ERA over 211.2 innings, 219 strikeouts, and just 35 walks. Her remarkable endurance—493 pitches in the championship tournament alone—stemmed from a high school career built on heavy workloads. Recognizing her historic impact, the Alabama Sports Writers Association named her Community College Athlete of the Year.

Move over gentle giants, Alabama’s newest softball sensation weighs about as much as a bag of chips—and pitched like a marble cannon. Fresh off turning junior college softball into her personal playground, Edwards has collectively broken more school records than anyone in a tiny hat could imagine. Witnessing her twirl that ball is like watching a caffeinated squirrel win a bone-crunching arm wrestle. The ASWA probably had to invent a new trophy category just to contain her awesomeness. Next season, opposing hitters might need therapy—because Addie’s fastball comes with free irony, served in the cutest little chug jug you’ve ever seen.

Crimson Tide Scoops Up Tennessee Lefty to Bolster Bullpen

Alabama softball secured its first transfer portal commitment by landing former Tennessee LHP Kailey Plumlee. After redshirting last season with the Lady Vols, Plumlee brings four years of eligibility and becomes Bama’s first lefty pitcher since 2024. A standout in high school—winning back-to-back state titles and the 2024 Tennessee Softball Gatorade Player of the Year—Plumlee joins a staff that already features SEC Pitcher of the Year Jocelyn Briski, alongside Braya Hodges, Vic Moten, and Kaitlyn Pallozzi. Under veteran coach Patrick Murphy and pitching guru Lance McMahon, the Crimson Tide aims for strategic portal additions to maintain a balanced 20–22 roster.

Because nothing says “keeping it classy” like high-stepping into your rival’s shadow only to pinch-hit with their own lefthander. Plumlee’s arrival has Alabama fans dreaming of lefty-vs-lefty standoffs in the dugout, complete with slow-motion windmill pitches and dramatic hair flips. Murphy’s portal strategy—adding precisely the right number of players without triggering a cosmic roster imbalance—feels like planning a heist in a rom-com. And in true Bama fashion, they’ll do it all while sipping sweet tea and quoting legendary McMahon pitch calls as bedtime mantras.
