FSU Left Holding the Line: OT Target Heads to NC State
Florida State’s offensive line recruiting has hit a snag after three-star tackle Jacob Burns opted for NC State over FSU, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina. Burns, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound prospect ranked No. 611 nationally and No. 54 at OT, becomes the seventh Florida State offensive lineman in recent weeks to pledge elsewhere. Florida State still holds ten commitments in its 2027 class, but the lack of depth at tackle leaves the Seminoles scrambling for solutions.
At this point, FSU’s offensive line board resembles a game of musical chairs where every chair is occupied by a rival’s logo. Head coach Mike Norvell must be wondering if he should start recruiting bodyguards instead of blockers. Meanwhile, every major OL target seems to have discovered their inner Tar Heel, Tiger, or Panther. Perhaps FSU should rebrand their spring game as a free-for-all recruitment workshop—complete with rival mascots as guest speakers.
Top EDGE Prospect Trades Seminole Dreams for Longhorn Glory
Four-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror, a 6-foot-2.5, 215-pound standout, surprised many by committing to Texas over Florida State, Georgia, and Auburn. The Alabama product, who logged 21 sacks and 32.5 tackles for loss as a junior, visited Texas, Georgia, and Auburn but never made it to Tallahassee. Garror, ranked No. 106 overall and No. 12 among EDGE prospects, leaves FSU’s recruiting staff to refocus on remaining targets like Abraham Sesay, T.K. Cunningham, and Jaxon Holley.
In the latest episode of Seminole recruitment déjà vu, FSU watchers can’t decide whether to laugh or weep. When every blue-chip pass rusher prefers burnt orange, maybe Coach Norvell should offer prospects free snow cones or a private dance with Osceola’s pony for good measure. At this point, even a Ouija board might be a better recruiting tool than the coaching staff’s pitch—at least the spirits would commit.
Ex-Seminole Hussey Gets the Boot at Hurricanes HQ
Former Florida State safety Conrad Hussey, once a top-100 recruit and Seminoles’ Freshman Defender of the Year, has been dismissed by Miami following an alleged physical altercation with a coach. After transferring from FSU to Oregon State, Hussey joined the Hurricanes but failed to crack the top-four rotation and now finds himself again without a program. With no spring transfer window left, the 6’0″, 191-pound defender must weigh his next steps to salvage a once-promising career.
If there’s a theme here, it’s that Hussey can’t decide if he’s playing musical teams or dodge-the-coach. Perhaps he simply loves campus tours and needs more frequent flyer miles. At this rate, the NCAA might invent a “professional bounce-around” designation just for him. One can only imagine the recruiter’s delight when the call goes out, “Hey Conrad, come join our conflict resolution seminar before you sign.”
