USC Recruiting Blitz: Camps, Offers, and Elite Visits

USC Recruiting Blitz: Camps, Offers, and Elite Visits - painting of USC Trojans football venue

Major Stokes Steals the Spotlight at USC’s Invite-Only Showcase

At a private USC camp on June 11 at Howard Jones Field, four-star Utah edge rusher Major Stokes dominated drills under the eye of Shaun Nua and Lincoln Riley. Rated No. 74 nationally and No. 2 in his state, the 6-5½, 240-pounder impressed with fluid footwork and technique so refined that coaches made him rerun drills just for the spectacle. Already holding an offer from USC since April, Stokes now boasts interest from Oklahoma, UCLA, Miami, Alabama, Oregon, Washington, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Who knew a bunch of sweaty recruits could spark more drama than a USC coaching staff reunion special? Apparently, if you’re tall, fast and can pretend not to hear your position coach yelling at you through a megaphone, you’re basically Lincoln Riley’s next MVP. It’s reassuring to see elite prospects like Major Stokes get more second looks than an epic Netflix reboot—because nothing says “college football success” quite like being ogled by a billionaire’s football puppet show.

Hayden Koo Scores Big with USC After Private Camp Performance

During USC’s June 11 camp, local standout Hayden Koo earned a Trojan offer after dazzling wide receivers coach Chad Savage and head coach Lincoln Riley in a private post-camp workout. The Tustin High receiver, who previously fielded an offer from Ohio State, revealed the split-second moment on social media when coaches pulled him aside to extend the scholarship. At 6-1 and 180 pounds, Koo has caught 53 passes for 796 yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing crisp routes, reliable hands and a knack for juking opponents.

Nothing says “everyone’s dream school” like getting ghosted by five-star programs until USC slides into your DMs with a shiny offer. Koo’s journey from orange juice stands to the Coliseum sideline is proof that persistence pays—unless you’re one of those recruits who peaked at wearing a Trojans T-shirt to family BBQs. Now he’s part of the early pipeline, destined to see his high-school highlight tape remixed into the Trojans’ next recruiting hype video.

Makai Buchanan’s Unofficial Visit Turns USC into His Personal Playground

Victor Valley (Calif.) sophomore Makai Buchanan returned to USC on June 10 for a one-on-one workout with running backs coach Anthony Jones and sat alongside Javon Vital Jr. in an intensive film session. Buchanan, a 2029 recruit and USC legacy visitor since eighth grade, is now the focus of a full-court press by Lincoln Riley, GM Chad Bowden and assistant GM Dre Brown. With over 30 offers nationwide and recent trips to Georgia, Ohio State and upcoming Oregon, Buchanan’s recruitment has become a coast-to-coast tug-of-war.

Welcome to Makai Buchanan’s world tour—next stop: your local grocery store. As USC’s brass flutters like circus ringmasters vying for the next great running back, you can almost hear the recruiting pitch: “Come for the palm trees, stay because we bribed your coaches with free T-shirts.” Meanwhile, Buchanan’s building more in-state relationships than a Hollywood assistant—because when it’s your job to persuade teenagers to choose you, professional stalking becomes part of the gig.
