Spartans Reveal Their Ultimate 2026-27 Hockey Gauntlet
Michigan State has finalized its 2026-27 non-conference and Big Ten hockey schedule. The Spartans will kick off the season with an exhibition versus Boston College at Munn Ice Arena before heading into marquee matchups: the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game against North Dakota in Austin, a two-game series at Boston University, and two heated showdowns with archrival Michigan split between Yost and Munn. MSU also returns to the Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, faces Wisconsin in early January and mid-February, and wraps up with its full slate of conference play after tweaking several dates originally announced back in April.
Oh joy, another season of trusting our fragile Spartan hearts to the whims of the hockey schedule gods. First, we shell out for a UFC-style Hall of Fame fight against North Dakota in Texas—because nothing says “collegiate hockey” like playing at a Rodeo State Fair. Then there’s the friends-fee-paid Boston U duel, which is basically paying tuition for the privilege of getting schooled on home ice. And let’s not forget the biannual Michigan smackdown, the only time East Lansing folks temporarily put aside their existential dread to chant “Let’s Go Green!” (or at least whisper it under their breath). Toss in the Great Lakes Invitational—where MSU pretends it can out-wrestle Western Michigan and random Missouri wildcard Lindenwood—and you have the perfect blueprint for emotional whiplash. Fans, get ready to ride the roller coaster of hype, heartbreak, and overpriced hot dogs.
