Wisconsin’s Preseason Gauntlet: From Parkside to The Bahamas
Wisconsin basketball has unveiled its 2026-27 non-conference schedule. The slate includes three exhibitions (Phoenix, UW-Parkside and Oklahoma State), a gentle four-game home opener run against Denver, Delaware, Fairfield and Coastal Carolina, and a December stretch pitting the Badgers against Marquette, Villanova and Auburn. Originally hoping for six marquee opponents, Wisconsin settles for five, leaning on the Big Ten for quality later in the season.
Forget roller coasters—this schedule is a gentle kiddie ride followed by three loop-de-loops in December. Our beloved Badgers start by padding their résumé with cupcakes (Denver, Delaware, Fairfield, Coastal Carolina), then pretend they’re globe-trotting elites in The Bahamas before landing back home for a showdown with a “Big East” rube. And yes, they begged the basketball gods for a sixth high-major opponent but somehow ran out of invites. Must’ve been a Zoom link gaffe. But hey, by the time they hit conference play, they’ll be so battle-scarred they’ll need life insurance just to walk onto the court.
