Kentucky Prepares to Pounce on 5th-Year Eligibility Frenzy
A recent federal judge ordered the NCAA to grant every athlete in the 2022 recruiting class an automatic fifth year of eligibility, eliminating the waiver process. Kentucky head coach Will Stein says he’s ready to “attack full-force” any chance to add veteran talent—specifically keeping an eye on linebacker Alex Afari Jr.’s possible return. With the Wildcats’ schedule loaded with top opponents, Stein insists patience is key but notes that any enhancement, whether from fifth-year returns or transfers, will be pursued aggressively to bolster Kentucky’s depth and ceiling this season.
