Reed & Thomas Ignite Aggies’ Fall Camp Offense

Reed Finds His Rhythm: From Pick Factory to Play-Caller’s Pal

Marcel Reed has shed last year’s interception woes and appears to be mastering Texas A&M’s offense in fall camp. After 12 picks and four fumbles in 2025, Reed’s communication with receivers has sharpened, thanks in part to new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, whose receiver-centric schemes have Reed all smiles. Reports from early practices show an even tug-of-war between Reed’s offense and Mike Elko’s defense, setting up a promising buildup to the Aggies’ 2026 opener.

Is it too much to hope that Reed’s newfound zen will translate into fewer pellet-shooting passes and more touchdown drives? Under Wiggins, he’s allegedly become the quarterback-receiver whisperer—like Dr. Dolittle, but instead of animals, he’s talking to a bunch of wideouts. If fall camp were judged by awkward huddles and fumbled snaps, A&M fans might still be sweating. But so far, Reed’s transformation from “Throw It Wherever” to “Throws with Conscience” has everyone tweeting praise and promptly forgetting all about the pick-six highlight reel from last season. Let’s just say the 12th Man can finally stop installing defibrillators in the south end zone.

Houston, We Have a Tight End: Thomas Rockets into Aggies’ Plans

After a quiet tight end group in 2025, Texas A&M’s fall camp has been electrified by transfer Houston Thomas from UTSA. Thomas has already made explosive downfield catches against top safety Tawfiq Byard in practice, hinting at a breakout season. With 78 catches for 918 yards and five touchdowns in four seasons at UTSA, he looks poised to open lanes for Aggies receivers and provide quarterback Marcel Reed with a much-needed seam target.

Finally, a tight end that’s not afraid to make defenses look like they’re auditioning for a slow-motion slapstick comedy. Thomas’s arrival is exactly what Texas A&M needed—someone to haul in the ball instead of sending it into orchard territory. Now, imagine opposing linebackers chasing him in circles while wideouts roam free like lost puppies. If Thomas continues, recruiting coordinators at UTSA are probably already drafting sympathy cards. And who wouldn’t cheer for a guy turning one-on-ones into highlight reels? The Aggies’ “pass it to the mauler” strategy is here.
