Florida State Flaunts 2 Freak Athletes in 2026

FSU’s Dynamic Duo Shakes Up the Freaks List

The 2026 preseason anticipates the Seminoles’ clash with New Mexico State, and Bruce Feldman’s annual ‘Freaks List’ has just amplified the buzz. Florida State lands two standouts: redshirt sophomore wideout Micahi Danzy rockets to No. 12 with 23 mph top speed, a 335-pound clean, and track-star explosiveness backed by 571 yards and six TDs in ’25; sophomore defensive lineman Mandrell Desir checks in at No. 57, bulking to 270 lb, sprinting 20.2 mph, benching 405 and squatting 515. Both earned national nods last year—Danzy for breakaway big plays, Desir for ACC Defensive Newcomer honors—and figure to dominate even more in ’26. The Seminoles will lock horns with 16 fellow ‘freaks’ this fall, including top-20 talents from Miami, Alabama, Clemson, and beyond.

Move over science fair, Florida State’s athletic department is now running a genetic showcase. Forget the lab—these players are auditioning for their own superhero franchises: “The Flash Wideout” and “The Bulldozer D-Lineman.” Next thing you know, coaches will be drafting gene sequences instead of playbooks, while boosters frantically Google “how to clone 23 mph speed bursts.” Expect weekly press conferences where staff marvels, “He does that in football situations, too!” as if anyone else was hitting 23 mph between the Gatorade bottles. As for the athletes, they’re clearly contractually obligated to break at least one world record, outrun a cheetah, and still make curfew—all before fall camp begins. FSU isn’t just building a team; they’re assembling a live-action X-Men lineup, and the rest of college football looks like it’s still in costume practice.
